Let me introduce some of our less frequent visitors. Starting at the top we have our American Gold Finch. This poor little guy is missing an eye and has some war wounds. I am glad he managed to survive. I am pretty sure he is a new addition to the birds that visit, though I have seen other Gold Finches before.
Next up is a Mourning Dove. What a treat! I have only seen doves here once before. I do believe they were sent here from God as a reminder to me to rest in His peace. Both times they came, I happened to be going through an internal struggle. I never noticed how beautiful their wings were before. they almost look scalloped.
Then we have our House Finches. I just love these birds! I love how they stand so tall. I really enjoy watching their mannerisms.
And lastly, a bird that almost went unnoticed the way it flitted from tree to tree along the back of our yard. If it weren’t for that little streak of yellow I may have missed him altogether… the Yellow Rumped Warbler. I do hope I will see him again but he hasn’t come to our feeder and from what I have read is a skilled hunter of bugs. They have been know to catch them midair.
Each of these types of birds is so different in the way they forage for food, communicate with one another and interact with other birds, animals and people. Every time I see them it is like I have opened a special gift.
17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or ]shifting shadow. James 1:17 NASB
They are all beautiful for sure but I just love the peaceful look of the Dove. Did you know that your grandmother use to have aviaries of Canary’s. I wonder if that is where you got your love for birds from.
I didn’t know that! I am smiling thinking about that. I do love doves. I like to think that I got something from Grandma,I did have a love for birds even as a small child, but, I think I was also influenced greatly by my wonderful Aunt Juanita!
