Be Beautiful

1 Peter 3:3-4

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.

There have been many times in life that I have encountered what the world would consider to be an attractive man or woman, and the moment they start speaking they lose their beauty, because of the ugliness that comes out. Mind you, there are plenty of attractive people who are beautiful on the inside, as well as, the outside. Conversely, I have met people who would not have attracted many people until they start talking and showing how beautiful they are by their actions.

We are naturally drawn to things of bold beauty, but some of my favorite birds are the ones who have a quiet beauty. They remind me that though I have a responsibility to take care of myself, I need to also make sure I am caring for my attitude. In complete honesty, I can only keep a good attitude by staying in God’s word and presence. It is there that I am reminded of who I am to be and of what is truly important.
